Although lasers in dentistry have existed for over 50 years, the technology itself has just recently become more commonplace in typical dental offices. Dr. Thistle was the first dentist in Nova Scotia to fix cavities with a dental laser. The cavity is comfortably removed from the tooth with the laser instead of the drill, which means no needle is required. This is particularly useful for children and people with needle phobias. We also have lasers that do surgeries and diagnostics as we consistently make sure we are at the forefront of dental technology to offer the most advanced treatment for our patients.
Our office is equipped with digital X-rays. The advantage of digital X-rays is a dramatic decrease in the amount of radiations used. Digital X-rays use approximately 15% of the radiation used in traditional film X-rays.
The iTero scanner takes highly-accurate 3D digital scans of your teeth. This means we can avoid taking traditional impressions. We use these scans for treatments such as Invisalign, crowns and bridges. It is much more accurate, therefore resulting in a better final product.
DIAGNOdent is an advanced laser diagnostic device that allows us to detect tooth decay at its earliest stage, allowing us to preserve and protect more tooth structure.
Digital Photography & Mouth Cameras
We take close-up pictures of the inside of your mouth and teeth with a digital camera and/or a mouth camera. This allows us to see things better and recommend the best treatment options for you.
Safe, Environmentally-Conscious Dentistry
While we ensure the highest quality of sterilization techniques available, we also try to maintain a healthy balance between the use of disposable versus non-disposable equipment and products in our clinic.
